How to Use — WeTradePro Smarter MACD
Our upgraded MACD: zero-line regime + 4-color histogram + smart crossover arrows. Educational, not advice.
What it is (one line)
A momentum + regime read in one panel: the zero line tells you bull vs bear, the colored histogram tells you if momentum is building or fading, and arrows flag the crosses that actually matter.
Who it's for & best timeframe
| Trader type | How you use it | Best timeframe | Recommended setting |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day trader | Trade strong crosses in the direction of the zero-line side | 5-min – 15-min | 12/26/9 |
| Swing trader | Best fit — enter on a strong cross above/below zero on the daily | Daily | 12/26/9 |
| Position trader | Use the weekly zero-line side to set the bias, ignore counter-trend crosses | Weekly | 12/26/9 |
Best overall: the daily chart for swing entries, filtered by the zero line.
What you see (lower panel)
- Cyan MACD line vs orange signal line, with a dashed gray zero line.
- Histogram (4 colors): lime = up & accelerating, dark green = up & fading, red = down & accelerating, dark red = down & fading.
- Arrows: cyan up / magenta down = a *strong* cross (agrees with the zero-line side); dark green/dark red = a weaker counter-trend cross.
- Labels:
MACD: BULLISH/BEARISH(zero-line side) andmomentum UP/DOWN & rising/fading.
How to trade it (the core play)
- Set bias from the zero line. MACD above zero = only look for longs; below = only look for shorts.
- Wait for a strong (cyan/magenta) cross in that direction — those agree with the regime.
- Confirm with the histogram color: entering long is best when the histogram just turned lime (up & accelerating).
- Stop at the recent swing; hold while the histogram keeps its bright color.
- Trim/exit when the histogram fades (lime → dark green) or the opposite cross fires.
Settings (inputs)
fastLength(12),slowLength(26),signalLength(9) — classic MACD lengths.averageType(EXPONENTIAL) — EMA is standard; try simple for a slower read.
Best on
- Liquid, trending stocks, ETFs, and futures. Weak/whipsaws in tight ranges — that's what the zero-line filter is for.
Common mistakes
- Trading every cross — counter-trend (dark) crosses are the low-quality ones; favor the strong (bright) crosses.
- Ignoring the zero line — a bullish cross *below* zero is fighting the regime.
- Holding through a fading histogram — color fade is your early warning to trim.
